Macy’s New York

The recipient of a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stony Brook University, Larry Muller began his career in 1979 as part of the executive training program at Macy’s New York. He spent four years with the company, during which time he served as an operations manager in the receiving department before joining the merchandising department where he worked as a an assistant buyer and ultimately as a buyer in the electronics department. Over the course of the next five years, Larry Muller worked with API/Wren Distributors which, at the time, was the largest consumer electronics distributor in New York. As a sales executive, he was tasked with selling Sharp electronics and Commodore personal computers to major retailers throughout the New York City metropolitan area.

Alliance Distributors

From 1989 to 1997, Larry Muller served as CEO of Alliance Distributors. He founded the video game distribution company which he grew from zero to $25 million in sales. Alliance became an authorized distributor for Sony PlayStation and Nintendo. Alliance was also one of the nation’s largest distributors for Konami, Electronic Arts, Capcom and Acclaim, among other publisher. Muller also established the Video Game Alliance as an advertising tool for video game dealers in the New York area.

Dunkin Donuts stores

After a stint as chief operating officer of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., Larry Muller purchased his first of his 26 Dunkin Donuts stores on Long Island, New York, in 2004. He owned and operated these stores and managed their 300 employees until 2014. In 2014 he joined the digital-first creative agency Code and Theory as a Partner. Helping companies solve business and consumer issues using a digital first approach, Code and Theory has worked with leading brands such as Adidas, Comcast, Google, Nasdaq, and WWE. The global enterprise, which was founded in 2001, maintains offices in New York City, San Francisco, Atlanta, Los Angeles, London, and Manila.

Code and Theory

Since 2018, Larry Muller has served as Code and Theory’s chief operating officer. He has overseen the company’s acquisition of other entities, including leading Drupal developer Mediacurrent and the digital marketing agency Rhythm. In his free time, Muller enjoys playing competitive basketball through Ultimate Hoops.
